NGO advocates creation of agri-tech hubs boosts youth interest in agriculture

A Youth Development and Growth Initiative, the AYuTe Africa Challenge wants the federal government to establish Agric-Technological hubs across the country to get youths involved in agriculture and technology to boost the economy of the country.

Interim Country Director of AYuTe, Dr Lekan Tobe while addressing journalists in Abuja, described Nigerian youths as industrious and hardworking.

Dr Tobe said the initiative was designed to create a chain of mentorship in various agriculture and technological spheres of endeavour to enable the young ones become key contributors to the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

He added that the initiative was also geared towards awarding outstanding youths who excelled in agro-technology and successfully contribute to the development of their communities.

Communications Manager of the Initiative, Chuba Ezigwe said AYuTe had over the years, assisted Nigerian youths in this area, noting that more Nigerian youths could benefit from the grant provided for them to advance their career.

AYuTe Africa Challenge is an enterprise development programme that aims to identify, nurture and support innovative agritech businesses, especially those led by youths and women to enable them to address the challenges faced by small holder farmers in Africa.
