In a recent development, Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has issued a clear-cut statement disassociating itself from the distribution of rice as palliatives.
This comes on the heels of rumors suggesting the Ministry’s involvement in delaying the distribution process.
The Ministry has categorically stated that the distribution of rice is not its direct responsibility. Instead, it is a part of constituency projects incorporated in the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill.
Managed by members of the National Assembly, these projects are budgeted within the Ministry for implementation purposes. The execution of the budget is currently underway.
