A cocoa produces merchant and the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tonade Hotel in Owena, Ijesa of Osun state, chief Adetona Taofeeq on Monday charged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a matter of urgency to encourage diversification of the country’s economy to other areas like agriculture most especially on the cocoa production in Nigeria.
The Cocoa produce merchant who made the charge in an interview with newsmen in Ilesa at a programme, described agriculture as the backbone of any given country which should not be swept away by the present administration in the country.
According to him,” In order to curb the problem of over-reliance/relying solely on crude oil for our economic sustenance in Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should embrace agriculture to boost the country’s economy.
He stressed, “If agriculture is well encouraged and made very attractive in Nigeria, it can boost the country’s economy more than oil.”
Adetona who advised Tinubu to also place priority on other areas of economic boosting like gold mining, transportation and even a good road network and stable electricity supply, maintained that these could assist in no small measure in boosting the country’s economy and attract foreign investors.
