Can you spot team Food For Mzansi at this year’s Africa Agri Tech Conference and Exhibition? The group is introducing Africa’s leaders in agriculture and technology to the possibilities of virtual farming … an experience not to be missed!

Team Food For Mzansi is proudly representing the publication at the inaugural Africa Agri Tech Conference and Exhibition, which commenced in Pretoria today. Join us for a virtual farming experience as we invite you to step inside.

Hosted over three days at the Sunbet Arena in Menlyn Main, the conference and exhibition brings together technology and agriculture leaders under one roof. The Africa Agri Tech conference and exhibition is dedicated to uniting the Southern African agricultural, scientific, and technology communities in one event.

It is designed to provide farmers, growers, and agribusinesses from across the agricultural landscape with a glimpse into the future, while exploring the latest technologies, innovations, and techniques available to meet tomorrow’s agricultural production realities.

Food For Mzansi, one of the premier agriculture and food value chain publications on the continent, is making its debut appearance at Africa’s biggest agriculture technology gathering. They now invite readers to join them and have fun in their Minecraft World, the publication’s own virtual farm, which will be showcased over the next three days.

Minecraft junkies, listen up

“At our booth, visitors will be able to experience an interactive live walkthrough of Minecraft worlds created by players from around the world,” explained Gareth Davies, the head of creative and development at Food For Mzansi.

Participants will have access to a shared Minecraft server where they can create their own systems and communities, share resources, and use Minecraft game mechanics to farm.

“Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to witness the challenges we have presented to players and see how they have expressed their creative talents in a free and open space.

“Anyone visiting the Africa Agri Tech event can visit the Food For Mzansi booth, grab a controller and walk through and experience the world built by our players live!”

Mzansi Master Builders – the official name for the Minecraft project – presents a unique opportunity for young learners to engage with agriculture in a fun and interactive way.

Kobus Louwrens, co-founder of Food For Mzansi, explains that the team is committed to innovation as a means of achieving their goals. This includes exploring new channels and platforms, such as raising awareness of food production realities through Minecraft gameplay or publishing in isiZulu and isiXhosa.

“As one of South Africa and Africa’s premier agriculture and food value chain publications, our mission is to highlight the new face of South African agriculture and co-create a new future for the sector,” Louwrens said.

Mzansi Master Builders allows learners to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills while also learning about sustainable agriculture. They can explore different farming methods, experiment with new technologies, and discover the endless possibilities that exist within the world of agriculture.
