Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Aide and Senior Advisor to former President John Dramani Mahama, has stressed the importance of revitalizing the agricultural sector to make it more appealing and engaging for young people.

During an interview with Woezor TV on Sunday, April 20, she underscored the critical role of youth involvement in agriculture for achieving sustainable livelihoods and driving national development.
Madam Bawah Mogtari highlighted the need to transform agriculture into a sector that attracts and inspires young people, stating, “Our goal is to make agriculture more appealing and engaging for the youth, enabling them to build meaningful futures for themselves.”

She pointed out that under John Mahama’s leadership, the government would prioritize empowering young people to seize opportunities within the agricultural value chain.

According to her, agriculture has immense potential for job creation and wealth generation, especially when modernized and supported by effective policies.

“We want the youth to view agriculture not as a fallback option, but as a smart, innovative, and rewarding career path,” she added.

Achieving this vision, she explained, requires investment in tools and training, as well as a shift in mindset and national priorities.

Madam Bawah Mogtari further revealed that a future Mahama administration would focus on youth-led agribusiness initiatives, improved access to credit, and enhanced market opportunities.

She concluded by encouraging young people to embrace this new vision for agriculture and assured them of the former president’s commitment to implementing policies that place youth at the forefront of Ghana’s development.
