President Mahama recently inaugurated the ‘Feed Ghana’ Program, a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize agriculture and foster sustainable food security and economic growth in the country.
The program was launched on April 12 in the Bono East Region, chosen for its fertile land and significant agricultural output. This initiative aims to harness the region’s farming potential and serve as a catalyst for transforming agriculture nationwide, benefiting farmers, local communities, and Ghana as a whole.

During his keynote address, President Mahama highlighted agriculture’s central role in Ghana’s socio-economic progress. He introduced the ambitious objectives of the Feed Ghana initiative, which include modernizing agricultural practices, achieving self-sufficiency in food production, reducing the annual $2 billion food import bill, boosting exports, and creating sustainable job opportunities, especially for young people.

President Mahama also acknowledged the current challenges, such as agro-industries operating below capacity and persistent food-related inflation. To address these issues, the Feed Ghana program will establish Farmers’ Service Centres across all districts, offering training, technical support, and market information to farmers.

The program signifies a substantial investment in Ghana’s agricultural future and is expected to drive economic growth, strengthen food security, and enhance the livelihoods of countless citizens. It aligns with the government’s broader agenda to ensure a prosperous and sustainable agricultural sector.
