My agricultural revolution has plans for storage facilities — Niger gov

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has disclosed that his agricultural revolution has plans for storage facilities to curtail post-harvest losses, adding that Dangote Group will  provide 500 of 40ft containers to the farms’ estates in the state

The governor disclosed this at the prestigious Public Service Award on Agriculture and Food Security presented to him at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) in Abuja.

The award presentation was organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media, in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja on  Saturday, stressing that the award was based on the deliberate attempts of his administration to transform Agriculture in Niger State.

The Governor, popularly referred to as the farmer governor, emphasised that the award was for the benefit of Nigerlites as he would stop at nothing to ensure that his vision for the state was achieved.

In the area of infrastructural development, especially roads, the  Governor said his administration has embarked on about 1,000 km of road projects across the state, describing it as unprecedented.

In his remarks at the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu enjoined Public Servants to live up to expectations and be guided by the fact that public institutions were not personal enterprises.

Represented by his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, the President reiterated his determination and commitment to creating an environment where merit is rewarded and every Public Servant is valued and motivated to give his or her best.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said the award was to recognise and award innovations, purposeful leadership and hard work of exceptional individuals and organisations among government and private sectors.

He explained that the selection process of the awardees was based on verifiable facts and figures.

Government officials, State and Federal lawmakers, family members, the Minister of state for Agriculture and other well-wishers, while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the occasion, described the Governor’s award as well-deserved, and a reflection of his good policies, hard work and commitment to his Agricultural revolution to ensure food security.

They all promised to continue to rally round him for the success of his administration.

The lawmaker representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Abuja, Senator Sani Musa also bagged an award on Constituency Empowerment.

Meanwhile, a total of 42 personalities received awards in different categories.

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the Etsu Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu were among the eminent personalities that attended the event.
