THE MINISTER OF STATE, MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND FOOD PRODUCTION, KOBENAN KOUASSI ADJOUMANI
Abidjan (AIP)-The Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani promised, Thursday March 7, 2024, during an audience with his Liberian counterpart Alexander Nuetah, to support this country in the expansion of its agricultural sector.
“We had a working session with our two heads of state. Liberia wants to draw inspiration from the Ivorian model in terms of agriculture. The points that caught our attention are the rubber tree, the palm tree and the cocoa. It is on these points that the Liberian president insisted,” noted Minister of State Adjoumani.
He added that the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, gave instructions so that Liberia could benefit from the Ivorian model for the dynamics of its agricultural sector.
“The two presidents instructed us to work together to achieve the structural transformation of Liberian agriculture by helping them put in place improved plans for cocoa, rubber, oil palm… And even we go well beyond to talk about food security, market gardening and food products,” indicated the Minister of State.
The Minister of Agriculture of Liberia, Alexander Nuetah specified that this collaboration with Côte d’Ivoire concerns several speculations such as rubber, oil palm, cocoa and even market gardening.
“Liberia is interested in research, technology transfer, mechanization and especially processing. Côte d’Ivoire has made a lot of progress and I came to draw inspiration from successful cases,” insisted Mr. Nuetah.
The President of the Republic of Liberia, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, has been on a 48-hour friendship and working visit to Côte d’Ivoire since Thursday March 7, 2024.
This Friday, March 8, 2024, he will visit the National Agricultural Research Center (CNRA) in the company of the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and several members of the government.
Côte d’Ivoire has already put its expertise to work to help several African countries in the development of their various agricultural sectors.
