Abia State governor Dr Alex Otti

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, at the weekend, inaugurated 16 out of 19 Commissioner-nominees.
Among those inaugurated were first female Health and Agriculture Commissioners, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo and Prof. Monica Ironkwe, respectively.

Also, a female state Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, administered the oaths of allegiance and office at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia, the state capital.

Otti, while addressing the new commissioners, emphasised that building a new Abia, with commitment to a functional society, which posterity would appreciate, are key visions of his administration.

He added that development of critical infrastructure, such as health, agriculture, among others, is the fulcrum of his administration. He, therefore, told the commissioners that their responsibilities are huge; hence, excuses and corruption would not be tolerated.

On behalf of the new commissioners, the state Attorney General promised the governor that they would strive to meet his expectations.
“We are aware of that the expectations of Abians are very high but we will strive to meet them,” he said.
