Crop protection is critical to addressing the growing food security problem.

RABAT Agricultural solutions provider He AgriEdge and Moroccan phosphate giant OCP Africa launched the fourth edition of their agricultural innovation program on Monday at a virtual conference attended by more than 100 people.

The program’s fourth edition focuses on the use of technology to enhance crop protection, and many of the participating projects are expected to benefit from the programme.

Participants will benefit from the expertise of Morocco’s Mohammed VI University of Technology(UM6P),Bayer,Meknes National Agricultural School (ENAM) and the Agritech Center of Excellence.

Additionally, UM6P infrastructure and labs are available. The university has numerous experimentalplatforms inlivinglabs, including experimental farms.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to reach out to potential customers in the form of programpartnersandpresent their solutions to a wider audience at the 2023 International Agricultural Show inMorocco.

According to the official website, more than 300 participants from 24 African countries have applied for the program .

“This program is an opportunity to create a hub of experience and knowledge sharing, co-creation and jointstruggleontechnology and crop protection,” reads the website.

Topics covered in this program include using AI to predict disease and pests, web and mobile platforms to monitor and treat crop diseases, and using tele-proxy detection to protect crops. but not limited to: TheFarming Innovation Program-aims to support startups that use technology to solve problems in the agricultural sector.

Local start-ups have recently emerged as a potential solution, especially in Africa, where entrepreneurship is booming as populations grow and resources dwindle due to climate change and other challenges.
