Women from Sikensi pledge to make their locality the breadbasket of Abidjan

Sikensi, March 21, 2022 (AIP) – The agricultural cooperation of the women of Sikensi, called “Bokamou” in the local language Abidji, was created at the end of a constitutive and elective general assembly, with a view to making the locality the “breadbasket agricultural sector of Abidjan.

The president of the board of directors of the cooperative (PCA), Adiemé N’Dja Marie-France, indicated on Saturday March 19, 2022 that the association is intended to meet the challenges of the development and empowerment of women. “Sikensi wants to take up the challenge of feeding Abidjan and we can, because we are now united in an agricultural cooperative,” said Ms. Adiemé.

She said she was counting on the advice of the Departmental Director of Agriculture and Rural Development of Sikensi, Clagbé Lega Marcelline, with a view to developing new agricultural techniques and above all promoting the various speculations of the villages, in particular cassava, oil red, plantain, sweet potato, taro and market garden produce.

The PCA of Bokamou asked its sisters of the department of Sikensi to adhere massively to the cooperative whose capital of two million FCFA, was provided by the president of the regional council of Agneby-Tiassa, Pierre Dimba.

The participants in the general assembly, who came from 13 villages of Sikensi, promised to act for the proper functioning of the cooperative.
